This guide explains how to fix common RDP issues, such as a black screen, internal errors, lag, slow performance, or disconnections that occur on Windows. The problem is known to affect certain Windows versions when connecting to the newest Windows Server releases. Although Microsoft is aware of the issue, a patch has not yet been released. However, the following solutions have been shown to work:
- On the computer you are connecting from (not the server), open the Group Policy Editor.
- Go to: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Connection Client
- Enable the setting labeled “Turn Off UDP On Client.”
